Robey
James
is a professional dancer/teacher and independent choreographer in New York
City. Currently James is founder and director of his own company, the Bare
Bones Dance Project.
Formerly
a member of the Metropolitan Opera Ballet Company, James teaches at
Manhattan Motion Dance Studios and the Performing Arts High School in Long
Island. He holds a BFA degree in Dance and teaches Jazz, Modern, Tap, and
Ballet. Some of his teaching credits include the University of Akron,
Western Reserve Academy, The Dance Institute, and the Wayne Center for the
Arts. James is the creator of the Kinetic Jazz Dance Syllabus and
Technique.
James is a frequent guest teacher and adjudicator at dance conventions and
competitions. His varied performing career has involved work in both
concert and entertainment dance fields.
His concert credits include dancing with the Off Center Dance Theater, New
York Dance Theater, Ohio Dance Theater, Ground Works Dance Theater,
Covenant Dance Theater, and the Cleveland Opera Company. James'
entertainment experiences include dancing for Disney World in Florida and
in Tokyo, Japan, Norwegian Cruise Lines in the Caribbean, Busch Gardens in
Virginia, and appearing on the television show "Star
Search".
